Chief Minster Engages South Korea’s Ambassador on Bilateral Relations


Sierra Leone's Chief Executive, David Moinina Sengeh, engaged in discussions with South Korea's Ambassador, Kim Young-Chae, centered on enhancing Bilateral Relations and fostering ongoing Productive Collaboration.

The Chief Executive warmly welcomed the ambassador and their team, extending these sentiments on behalf of Sierra Leone's President and its populace. He emphasized the significance of their meeting, highlighting the shared objective of fortifying their long-established bilateral ties through mutually beneficial cooperation.

He reiterated the government's steadfast dedication to existing collaborative efforts, underscoring the unwavering commitment to maintaining an inclusive approach for engagement with development and investment partners.

Ambassador Kim also conveyed a formal communication from the President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Yoon Suk Yeol. This communication requested a meeting with His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78) taking place from September 18 to 26, 2023, in New York. The ambassador articulated his nation's enthusiasm to deepen their collaborative endeavours with Sierra Leone, particularly in the domains of foreign affairs, international cooperation, agriculture, higher and technical education, as well as private sector investments in Freetown.

Since the inception of diplomatic ties between the resource-rich West African nation and the economically robust East Asian country on June 25, 1962, Korea has consistently stood as a steadfast ally to Sierra Leone. This enduring camaraderie has been reciprocated, as affirmed by official communications from the state house information and communications unit.
