The Sierra Leone Police has provided a status report on the purported September 11 demonstration in the country's capital, Freetown, and other regions.
Mr. Will, representing the Office of National Security (ONS), explained that they engaged with various government departments, including the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, and took other measures to promote peace. They utilized loudspeakers and other communication methods to raise awareness among the public regarding the importance of maintaining peace within different communities.
Security personnel were deployed to multiple locations to ensure the preservation of peace. Mr. Will emphasized that the security sector is fully committed to upholding the nation's peace and will continue to do so in the future.
He noted that several arrests had been made, with some individuals being released while others were assisting the police in ongoing investigations.
The police reported two fatalities attributed to stray bullets and have initiated an investigation to determine the precise circumstances of their deaths.
Regarding security updates, it was disclosed that four individuals were arrested in Goderich, sixty in Waterloo, and eight near the American Embassy in Mountain.
