APC Raises Concerns Over So-Called Constitutional Review Process

Sierra Leone's primary opposition party, the All People's Congress (APC), has expressed concerns regarding the purported constitutional review process of Sierra Leone's 1991 constitution under the Bio administration. In an official statement, Lansana Dumbuya, the APC's National Secretary-General, underscored the importance of authentic legal reforms that enhance Sierra Leone's democratic system. However, the current atmosphere, marked by a noticeable lack of trust and a deeply divided political landscape, does not seem conducive to such a vital undertaking.

The APC has characterized this as a deliberate and insensitive maneuver by the current government, with the intention of inciting a constitutional crisis and jeopardizing the nation's peace and stability. The party strongly condemns this action and calls upon the government to immediately cease these activities, emphasizing the need to safeguard the peace and security of the state.
