Sylvia Blyden’s Courtesy to Samura Kamara Captured on Camera

Political analyst, Dr. Sylvia Blyden, was seen in photographs exchanging courteous greetings with Dr. Samura Kamara, the leader of the All People’s Congress, during a funeral gathering within the Foulah Town community in Freetown.

The images depict Dr. Blyden maintaining a composed demeanour as she respectfully nodded her head and warmly greeted Dr. Samura Kamara, along with other prominent members of the APC.

In response to the circulated photographs on social media, Sylvia Blyden explained that her actions were motivated by a sense of respect and her embodiment of African cultural values. She expressed:

"Yesterday (27/08/23), at the funeral of my late Aunt in Foulah Town, Dr. Samura Kamara and his media team were in attendance. Those who are familiar with my character can affirm that I naturally exhibit humility as an African woman. It is my inclination to bow my head and lower my gaze when extending greetings to elders or traditional leaders, regardless of their affiliation, even within the APC's various factions.
Dr. Samura Kamara not only holds seniority in age but also assumes the role of de facto APC Leader. Hence, my gesture of bowing to greet him and Uncle Osman Yansaneh is rooted in my inherent humility as an African woman. My actions stem from an authentic place of respect. Our differences lie in political ideology alone, devoid of personal animosity. 😊🙌
To those who choose to assail my character to the extent of issuing threats based on our divergent policy perspectives, it is important to be prepared for legal consequences when the law intervenes. I shall elaborate no further on this matter. Anticipate further updates. Stay tuned."
