ECSL Extends Verification Exercise For Ad-hoc Polling Staff

In an effort to expedite the payment process for polling personnel nationwide, the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has prolonged the period for the collaborative authentication of polling staff across all 16 districts in Sierra Leone by an additional five days.

This development was conveyed through a public announcement released on Monday, August 28, 2023. As detailed in the announcement, the extension aims to finalize the verification procedure for all polling staff members who were engaged during the electoral proceedings on June 24, 2023.

The validation process will observe a pause on Sunday, August 27, 2023, and will recommence on Monday, August 28, 2023, until concluding on Friday, September 1, 2023.

The ECSL encourages polling staff members who are yet to undergo verification to avail themselves at the Commission's District Offices during the extended authentication window, spanning from Monday, August 28, to Friday, September 1, 2023. The verification sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on a daily basis.

Notably, the Commission has stipulated that it will continue to be reachable via phone inquiries until Friday, September 8, 2023. However, the official cutoff date for the in-person verification process is set for September 1, 2023.
