Head of Chinese Construction Company Commits to Meeting FIFA and CAF Standards for Siaka Stevens Stadium Project

The leader of the Chinese construction firm responsible for the Siaka Stevens Stadium project in Sierra Leone has given the citizens of Sierra Leone his commitment to deliver an impressive outcome that aligns with the established criteria set by both FIFA and CAF for soccer venues.

He conveyed these statements during an assessment overseen by Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, who holds the position of Director of Competitions at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). The evaluation encompassed various aspects of the stadium, encompassing changing rooms, the playing field, media zone, anti-doping facility, goal structures, score display, tunnel, fitness center, primary entrance, and synthetic seating for the spectator areas.

In his declaration, he disclosed the installation of a total of eight changing rooms (four for international matches and four for local games) as well as two designated sections for disabled fans. These enhancements are aimed at ensuring comprehensive inclusion for all attendees during competitions.

The playing field will boast natural turf, four-goal structures constructed from composite material instead of iron, and a contemporary electronic scoreboard. Currently, the foremost challenge lies in fitting plastic seating for the open sections, but active measures are in progress to tackle this issue.

Hon. Gavao, the recently designated Chair of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Sports, urged Jessie to accelerate the process of installing plastic seats, underscoring that a renovation of the stadium without them would fall short of FIFA/CAF requirements. He underscored the significance of guaranteeing that the $40 million undertaking encompasses all facilities that meet the obligatory benchmarks.
