"Sierra Leone's Leone Stars May Host Nigeria's Super Eagles in Monrovia for 2023 AFCON Qualifiers"

2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Sierra Leone May Host Nigeria in Liberia

In the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers scheduled for June 2023, there is a possibility that Sierra Leone's Leone Stars will host Nigeria's Super Eagles in Monrovia, Liberia.

Sources suggest that the match is likely to take place at the recently renovated Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia. This sports complex, with a seating capacity of 22,000, is considered one of the finest in the country, meeting international standards.

Recently, the stadium hosted Liberia's fourth match of the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers between Lone Stars and Bafana Bafana, resulting in a 2-1 defeat for Liberia.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) had proposed hosting the match at the newly constructed Southern Arena Stadium in Bo City. However, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected this proposal, citing a lack of sufficient standard hotels in the country's second-largest city.
