Flooding Disrupts Traffic at PWD Junction in Sierra Leone Capital

Reports indicate that there is a flooding situation at the intersection of the Public Works Department (PWD) Junction and Pademba Road Campbell Street area.

This flooding is suspected to be the result of a heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning.

The flow of traffic on Pademba Road, Campbell Street, Dundas Street, and Circular Road has been significantly disrupted due to the surging water that has submerged the roadways.

Residents in the vicinity have been advised to remain indoors until the rain subsides.

The flooding is believed to have been caused by a blocked drainage system known as the samba gutter, which is the largest sewer system in the capital city of Sierra Leone.

Just a few days ago, Gabriel Kpaka, the Director of the Sierra Leone Metrological Agency (SLMet), warned that the country would face flooding during this year's rainy season.

He urged the authorities to take necessary measures to prevent potential disasters.
