Caulker Departs Wigan Athletic

After a four-month stint with Wigan Athletic, Sierra Leone captain Steven Caulker has confirmed his departure from the club. The 31-year-old defender joined the team until the end of the 2022/23 Championship season. Caulker expressed his gratitude to Wigan Athletic, stating, "I would like to thank @LaticsOfficial for the opportunity to have been a part of something special over the last 4 months. I wish Wigan Athletic and everyone involved with the club the very best of luck for next season."

Unfortunately, Wigan Athletic has been relegated from the Sky Bet Championship. Following Huddersfield's victory over Sheffield United on May 4th, Wigan will now compete in League 1. This relegation marks their first time in the third tier in 21 years. Notably, Caulker had signed a six-month contract with Wigan Athletic, which is managed by former Ivorian international Kolo Touré.
