Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, has been listed among the top nine places to visit in Spring this year by UK travel site, Wanderlust.

According to the site, Freetown is an exciting destination to visit this year due to the recently opened new airport terminal, which is five times larger than the old one. Wanderlust highlights that the new terminal is the only green-powered terminal in the sub-region, making it a unique and eco-friendly addition to the city's infrastructure.

Wanderlust also encourages Spring travelers to visit the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary located in Regent Village, Western Rural District, which hosts hundreds of rescued chimpanzees and eco-lodges for overnight stays.

Among the other top nine destinations listed by Wanderlust, some are in the UK or its territories, including Guernsey in the Channel Islands and Yorkshire. Other destinations include Washington DC, Monterrey County, Toronto, A Coruña, Al ula, and Antigua and

Barbuda.

Earlier this year, Freetown peninsula was also listed among the top 100 places to visit by Time Magazine. The reasons listed by Wanderlust are similar to those given by Time, except for the white sandy beaches along the Freetown coast, which were highlighted by Time.

With its new eco-friendly airport terminal and unique attractions like the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Freetown is undoubtedly becoming a must-visit destination for travelers seeking adventure and eco-tourism experiences.
