On April 15, 2023, the Sierra Leone Police buried an unidentified corpse inside the shrine of Ibrahim Kalokoh, a notorious witch doctor in Newton (4 Mile) Waterloo. However, some individuals from Freetown have recently identified the body as that of Kabba Santigie Bangura, a lecturer in the Geography and Geology department at Fourah Bay College,
University of Sierra Leone, who had gone missing on March 6, 2023. The Cyber Unit of the Waterloo Police Station had previously arrested two men in connection to Bangura's disappearance, and investigations are still ongoing.
To substantiate the identification, personal items belonging to Bangura, such as his T-shirts and trousers, were discovered inside the shrine. As a precautionary measure, armed police officers have been stationed in and around the area to protect the corpse until the government's pathologist arrives.
