VIDEO:ASP Gbanya's Message to Citizens on Non-Violence, Shortly Before His Untimely Death

ASP Mathew Moiwah Gbanya, who tragically lost his life after being shot by an unknown gunman in Makeni, had played a crucial role in the peace and non-violence campaign organized by the Sierra Leone Police ahead of the 24 June general elections. A video circulating on social media shows him speaking to citizens during the voter registration process, emphasizing the importance of non-violence and positive relations between the police force and the public.

"The police force is against all forms of violence," he said. "The days of intimidation and harsh treatment are long gone, and we don't want to see that anymore. The police are not enemies or devils to civilians, and there's no need to view them that way. If you abide by the law, there's no need to see a police officer and feel afraid."
