Freetown Mayor and CRS Collaborate to Enhance Waste Management in Kroo Bay

In a concerted effort to improve sanitation and waste management in Freetown's Kroo Bay community, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), has donated essential waste management tools to local residents. This initiative aims to empower the community to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment.

The donated equipment includes wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and protective gear, which are intended to assist residents in effectively managing waste and reducing environmental health risks. Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized the importance of community involvement in sustaining cleanliness and highlighted the role of such collaborations in achieving long-term environmental goals.

CRS representatives expressed their commitment to supporting local communities in building resilience and promoting sustainable development. They noted that proper waste management is crucial for preventing disease outbreaks and improving overall living conditions.

Community members welcomed the donation, expressing gratitude for the support and acknowledging the positive impact it is expected to have on their daily lives. They pledged to utilize the tools effectively and to work collectively towards maintaining a cleaner Kroo Bay.

This initiative is part of the broader "Transform Freetown" agenda, which focuses on enhancing urban resilience through improved sanitation, environmental management, and community engagement.
