WASSCE Results to be Released in Two Weeks – Education Minister

The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sacky, announced on September 12, 2023, during a routine press conference hosted by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room in Tower Hill, Freetown, that the results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will become available within the coming two weeks. Additionally, he disclosed that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results are expected to be released by the end of September.

MBSSE has successfully secured $73.7 million in funding through collaborative efforts with organizations such as the World Bank, Education Above All, and Partnership for Education. These funds are earmarked to support the government's initiative of providing Free and Quality Education (FQE).

WASSCE serves as the concluding examination for secondary school students, acting as a prerequisite for admission to tertiary institutions. Over time, there has been a substantial increase in the number of passing students, which has led to certain tertiary institutions implementing entrance examinations as an additional screening measure for admission.
