President Bio's Remarks on Financing Locally Led Climate Action at African Climate Summit

President Julius Maada Bio has expressed his perspective regarding the creation of the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) during his participation in the African Climate Summit in Kenya.

He stated, "Today, I had the privilege of joining my esteemed counterpart and the host of the African Climate Summit, His Excellency William Ruto, for the launch of the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme. This initiative, led by the Kenyan Government, is designed to drive concrete action, benefiting millions of Kenyan citizens and establishing a strong foundation for robust climate adaptation endeavors in the coming decade," President Bio remarked.

In furtherance of his message, President Bio elucidated the Kenyan Government's strategy to mitigate vulnerability at the community level, addressing climate change challenges in the country.

He elaborated, "The proactive measures undertaken by the Kenyan Government to mitigate vulnerability at the community level and bolster resilience against the impacts of climate change are commendable. These actions should serve as a model for replication across the African continent, fostering tailored solutions to the challenges posed by climate change."

Furthermore, President Bio affirmed Sierra Leone's commitment to collaborating with Kenya and other development partners to replicate a similar initiative in Sierra Leone, aimed at fortifying the nation's 446 wards.

He emphasized, "Sierra Leone is fully dedicated to collaborating with Kenya and our development partners to craft a comparable program aimed at strengthening our 446 wards throughout the country."

Concluding his statement, President Bio expressed his optimism about forming partnerships with other nations to devise programs facilitating the development of projects.

He concluded, "I hold a positive outlook regarding our potential collaborations with partner nations, fostering a South-South cooperation and knowledge-sharing model among African countries. This collaboration could expedite the project design process and facilitate swifter progress in developing financially viable projects, ultimately attracting greater private investment inflow."
