The Deputy Minister of Lands and Country Planning, Madam Phyllis Kapu, recently made her inaugural visit to Kailahun following her appointment by President Julius Maada Bio.
Minister Kapu, a native of the eastern district, received a warm reception from political party supporters, women traditional leaders, friends, families, religious leaders, youth groups, and local residents.
Addressing a sizable gathering at the renowned Kailahun Court Barry, Deputy Lands Minister Kapu expressed her delight at returning to her hometown. During her speech, she offered valuable advice to the youth, urging them to steer clear of violence, hate speech, and substance abuse. She emphasized the importance of nurturing a dynamic youth population, believing that Kailahun's challenges could be better understood and resolved by its own sons and daughters. This, she emphasized, requires a heightened awareness of ourselves and others.
Minister Kapu conveyed her joy at the opportunity to engage in dialogue with her fellow Kailahun natives. She reassured the people of Kailahun that she is well-informed about their concerns, and she is committed to addressing them in a timely manner.
