"Preparations Underway for 2023 Bed Net Distribution Campaign in Moyamba District"

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation conducted an extensive training program on September 7th of this year. The program involved Community Health Officers, Chiefdom PHU Supervisors, In-Charges, Nurses, Chairpersons of Facility Management Committees associated with various PHUs, and twenty-two councilors from Moyamba District.

The primary objective of this five-day training, which commenced on September 7th and concluded on September 11th, was to prepare for the distribution of bed nets in 2023. This training occurred at the DHMT located in Moyamba Town within Moyamba District.

Mr. Philip Brewah, who heads the National Malaria Disease Control unit under the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, elucidated that the training aimed to strategize and advance the fight against malaria in both Moyamba District and the entire nation.

Throughout these five days of training, Mr. Brewah's team collaborated with the participants to formulate plans for household registration. This registration process is pivotal, as the distribution of bed nets will be based on households rather than individual recipients. To illustrate, households with one to three occupants will receive one-bed net, while those with one to five residents will receive two, and households with five or more members will be allocated three bed nets.

It is noteworthy that this project receives sponsorship from GOAL SL and several international non-governmental organizations.

The commencement of the bed net distribution campaign is scheduled for early December, adhering to the established triennial pattern. The previous campaign took place in 2022.
