Sierra Leone's Deputy Minister of Information, Yusuf Keketomi Sandi, has disclosed that their government is actively pursuing extradition proceedings for Abdul Will Kamara, a Sierra Leonean residing in the Netherlands, who is widely known as Adebayor.
"We initiated this extradition process quite some time ago, and we are committed to seeing it through," Sandi affirmed.
Adebayor faces accusations from the Sierra Leonean government, primarily for alleged incitement against the President and other high-ranking government officials. Some local residents contend that his apprehension is long overdue, as they believe he bears responsibility for a series of grave offences that have occurred in the country over the past five years.
"The government is diligently adhering to established procedures and legal standards to request the extradition of Adebayor, supported by ample evidence," the Deputy Information Minister disclosed.
Certain locals have also pointed fingers at the Netherlands-based commentator, accusing him of orchestrating the deadly protest that transpired in Sierra Leone on August 10 of the preceding year.
The August 10th protest is noted as the deadliest in Sierra Leone in recent decades, resulting in the unfortunate loss of over 30 civilian and security personnel lives, as well as extensive property damage.
Adebayor wields a substantial following on social media platforms, where he disseminates his messages. Earlier this year, security forces issued warnings against the online dissemination of content that could potentially inflame violence.
