Sierra Leone’s Health Minister Elected Vice Chairperson WHO Regional Committee For Africa


The WHO Regional Committee for Africa stands as the health policy decision-making entity for the African Region within the Organization. It is composed of delegates, often Health Ministers, or their designated representatives, hailing from all 47 Member States within the Region.

In a significant development, Dr. Austin Demby, the incumbent Minister of Health and Sanitation, has secured the position of Vice Chairperson for the Regional Committee for Africa within the World Health Organization (WHO). This landmark decision took place during the RC73 Session held in Botswana, marking Dr. Demby as the inaugural individual to attain this role within the organization.
