His Excellency Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio has committed to incorporating women into all aspects of his governance. This commitment is evident in his selection of Madam Judith Boi Kosseh as the first female Deputy General Manager of the Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA), demonstrating the empowerment of capable women and their integration into key governance roles.
Prior to her historic appointment, Madam Judith Boi Kosseh held a position as one of the Directors at the Leone Rock Metal Group. Known as Madam Judith, she served as the Community Director, fostering positive relationships between the company and community stakeholders, including Paramount Chiefs, section chiefs, youth leaders, and women leaders. Her instrumental role extended to overseeing numerous community infrastructural projects facilitated by the company.
Madam Kosseh brings a wealth of administrative and management experience garnered from her work as a Community and Social Expert with various organizations in the United Kingdom. Her journey includes a seven-year tenure at The Avenue Highams Park in London as a Project Manager. In this role, she orchestrated community programs aimed at rectifying inequalities and supporting the personal, social, and emotional growth of individuals aged 11-25. As the project's lead, she guided therapeutic initiatives and supervised staff and students, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and safeguarding procedures. Additionally, she managed the project's administrative and financial operations.
Before relocating to Sierra Leone in 2018, she served as a Senior Participation Officer at the Treaty Centre in London. Here, she empowered young individuals through volunteering programs and bolstered their employability skills. She provided strategic leadership for youth engagement and financial inclusion initiatives aligned with the organization's goals.
Madam Judith Kosseh's educational background comprises a Master's Degree in Youth and Community Work from the University of East London, accompanied by a distinctive Bachelor's Degree in Third World Development and Management. Her academic pursuits were driven by a desire to contribute to her country's progress.
When asked about her intended contributions to SLPA, Madam Kosseh conveyed her intention to support her industrious superior and enhance SLPA's operations. She expressed gratitude for her boss's extensive port management expertise and envisioned her administrative acumen and leadership development skills as complementary forces, working towards a successful port operation.
She emphasized SLPA's significance as a cornerstone of the nation's economy and pledged to implement additional strategies to boost economic growth. As a dedicated support system, her aim is to contribute to President Bio's vision of economic development, fostering improved conditions for all in Sierra Leone.
