During a decisive gathering at The Place Resort in Tokeh, Sierra Leone, the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., expressed unwavering determination to escalate the battle against corruption in the country over the next five years.
In an analogy that resonated with the attendees, Kaifala likened the Directors, Deputy Directors, and Regional Managers of the Commission to crucial military Generals, entrusted with devising effective strategies to triumph over corruption.
The Commissioner stressed the significance of meticulous planning to ensure the people of Sierra Leone and those relying on their leadership are not let down. Underscoring the pivotal role of the ACC in the country's governance activities, Kaifala reiterated the Commission's mission to support a prosperous Sierra Leone and highlighted the need for a solid strategy to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring maximum value for money.
Kaifala set an ambitious goal to surpass the achievements of the past five years, with Sierra Leone's current Transparency International Index ranking of 110 serving as motivation to aim for double-digit rankings in the coming years.
During the three-day retreat, concluding on July 22, 2023, all departmental directors and regional managers will present innovative approaches and new tactics for combating corruption in the country.
The Lead Facilitator for the Retreat, Dr. Modupeh Taylor-Pearce, emphasized the necessity of disciplinary leadership as the cornerstone of the Commission's operations, aiming to transform it into a more effective and reputable institution.
Commissioner Kaifala concluded his address by encouraging the Management Team to embrace innovation and remain receptive to novel ideas that could bolster the fight against corruption.
