On Monday, May 29, 2023, the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) lodged a request with the Supreme Court to dismiss the application filed by Paul Kamara and Rev. Coleson Turay against them, as well as against the APC Presidential Candidate Samura Kamara. The ECSL cited numerous irregularities as grounds for dismissal. This development came after Dr Samura Kamara, the APC Presidential Candidate, unveiled his Manifesto, focusing on addressing the country's ailing economy.
In response, Samura Kamara's legal team filed an application last week, urging the Court to strike out the same application. They argued that the initial application failed to comply with the appropriate Supreme Court rules outlined in Public Notice No. 1 of 1982. They viewed the application as a deliberate attempt to waste the Court's time and requested that it be dismissed with associated costs.
