APC Deputy Regional Organising Secretary Resigns

Alhaji Alpha Muhammad Lighali Alghali Resigns from APC

Alhaji Alpha Muhammad Lighali Alghali, the Deputy Organizing Secretary of the main opposition All People's Congress (APC), resigned from his position on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

In a letter to the National Secretary General, Alghali stated that he was resigning from his position as Deputy Regional Organizing Secretary in charge of the entire Western Rural Area. He said that he had lost faith in the APC's ability to serve the political will of the people, and that he was no longer willing to be a part of an organization that he believed was being misdirected for the selfish interests of a few.

Alghali thanked the people of the Western Area for their unwavering loyalty and support during his tenure as Deputy Regional Organizing Secretary. He said that he would continue to work for the betterment of Sierra Leone, but that he would do so outside of the APC.

Alghali's resignation is a major blow to the APC, which is already facing a number of challenges. The party lost the 2022 presidential election to the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP), and it is currently divided over the issue of who should lead the party into the next election.

Alghali's resignation is likely to further weaken the APC, and it could make it even more difficult for the party to win back power in the next election.
