As the June 24th, 2023 elections approach in Sierra Leone, US-based artist Dennis Foray Bundu, better known as Menace Da General (MDG), has offered a piece of advice to Sierra Leonean youth.
In a Facebook video, he expressed his gratitude to his fans for supporting his comic posts on social media, emphasizing that laughter is a great stress reliever. He noted that when Sierra Leoneans create and share jokes on social media, they unite in laughter, ignoring political affiliations, religion, and tribe, and thus promoting unity.
Menace Da General then broached the topic of the upcoming elections, stating that it is a time that creates unnecessary division among Sierra Leoneans. He urged the youth not to let politicians take advantage of their weakness, which is a lack of unity. He encouraged them to stay united, not to ignore their struggles, and not to allow anyone to downplay their experiences.
In essence, his message was one of advice to the youth to not allow anyone to manipulate their minds or vulnerability to divide them, especially during the election period. watch the video
