There is an available position at the Sierra Leone Association of the Blind (SLAB) for an Advocacy and Fundraising Officer.



JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Advocacy and Fundraising Officer (Full-time) Location: 5 Walpole Street, Freetown

Duties and Responsibilities: The Advocacy and Fundraising Officer will be responsible for coordinating advocacy and fundraising activities at both national and local levels, developing and managing advocacy and fundraising activities, maintaining an advocacy and fundraising database/documents, and broadening corporate support. They will also be responsible for leading proposal writing for grant and other bid applications, updating the SLAB strategic plan, contributing updates for quarterly newsletters and annual national reports, and preparing appeal letters and direct mail in collaboration with the Director and the Administrative/Finance Office. In addition, they will support project activities in the seven project districts and undertake any other work requested for on-going organization projects/activities.

Qualifications and Experience: The ideal candidate should have a degree in Social Sciences or a related field of study, at least three years of work experience in advocacy and fundraising, excellent communication skills, strong organizational and planning skills, and the ability to work under tight time constraints. They should also possess strong research and data analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

About SLAB: The Sierra Leone Association of the Blind (SLAB) is a national civil society platform with a membership of more than 4,000 blind and low vision individuals, as well as non-blind persons. Established in 1976 by the blind themselves, SLAB is largely decentralized with membership structures in 12 of the country's 16 districts. Currently, SLAB is undertaking the three-year SLAB Amplified Project in seven districts with the support of the Danish Association of the Blind (DAB).
