Sierra Leonean Musician Nasser Ayoub Calls on Electoral Commission to Verify Social Media Account

Nasser Ayoub, a popular Sierra Leonean musician, and philanthropist have urged the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) to verify its social media account. Ayoub, who runs a verified account himself, also questioned why the Commission has not yet spent the $10 fee required to obtain a verified account.

This criticism comes amid widespread dissatisfaction with the ECSL, as many locals have criticized the poor quality of the voter's ID cards, citing missing information and low-quality photographs.

The Commission's Communication Head, Albert Massaquoi, admitted that there was an agreement for colored pictures on the ID cards but that many were printed in black and white.

The cards are set to be used in the country's upcoming multi-tier election in June, where the incumbent Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) is expected to face strong competition from the opposition All People's Congress (APC).
