The World Health Organization’s Representative to Sierra Leone, Innocent Nuwagira has paid a courtesy call on President Bio and the minister of health and sanitation, Austin Demby.
Their visit had the objective of briefing the President on the advancements and achievements of the longstanding partnership and collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) aimed at enhancing the country's health system and outcomes.
During the meeting with WHO Sierra Leone representative Dr. Nuwagira at the state house in Freetown, the President expressed his administration's dedication to strengthening Sierra Leone's collaboration with WHO to improve health systems, promote health security, and utilize research, information, and evidence-based policies for both national and global health issues.
The President also extended his gratitude for the continuous support towards their goal of creating a functional national health system that delivers effective, high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services to all Sierra Leoneans.
Furthermore, the meeting touched upon the upcoming launch of the universal health preparedness review, which WHO will support, and will make Sierra Leone the second country in the WHO Africa Region to adopt this government-led initiative.
