Kei Kamara moves closer to Donovan's MLS goal record with brace

Over the weekend, Kei Kamara, a former Leone Stars forward, scored two goals, bringing him within three goals of equaling US soccer legend Landon Donovan's goal tally in the MLS All-Time goal scorer chart. Kamara's goals helped the Chicago Fire secure a 2-1 win over Minnesota United FC and marked their first home win of the season.

His first goal was scored in the 24th minute when his low shot deflected off the leg of Minnesota defender Miguel Tapias and past goalie Dayne St. Clair. Kamara's second goal was a diving header that found the back of the net 12 minutes later.

Kamara has scored the Fire's past three goals, including a goal in the 92nd minute that lifted Chicago to a 3-2 win over Inter Miami CF on March 25. With 142 goals, Kamara is in striking distance of Donovan's 145 goals, and he will need to score another 32 goals to surpass C. Wondolowski's 171 goals to become the leading scorer in the MLS All-Time goal scorer chart.
