In preparation for the upcoming June 24 General Elections, the Youth Commissioner and partners, with funding from the United Nations, have launched the "Youths In Politics and Peace Building Project" in Sierra Leone. This initiative is aimed at engaging young people in political processes and promoting peace-building efforts throughout the country.
On Wednesday, April 12th, 2023, a new initiative was launched by CARITAS, CRS, and the United Nations, who provided funding for the project. The focus of the initiative is to engage young people in democratic processes and encourage their safe and constructive participation in politics. During the launch event, Ahonsi Babatunde, the UN Regional Coordinator, stressed the importance of involving youth in politics and peace-building efforts. In a social media post, he stated that the "Youths In Politics And Peace Building Project" is tailored to the specific needs of Sierra Leone, addressing young people, both male and female, and their role in politics and peacebuilding.
