Fully Funded HKBU International Writers' Workshop 2026 Opens Applications

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is now accepting applications for its prestigious International Writers' Workshop (IWW), scheduled to take place from March 2-29, 2026, in Hong Kong. Eligibility and Application Requirements

The HKBU IWW welcomes applications from writers around the world who meet the following criteria:

Applicants must have published at least one book (any genre). Applicants must currently reside outside of Hong Kong. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in either English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese). Applicants must commit to attending the entire residency program, including the Welcome Ceremony and Literary Festival.

The application process requires the submission of the following materials as a single PDF file to iww@hkbu.edu.hk:

An Artist's Statement (1-page, single-spaced, in English or Chinese) outlining the applicant's work and writing plans for the workshop. (If the statement is in Chinese, a 1-paragraph summary in English is also required). A selection of recent work (12-15 pages) encompassing various genres, including creative nonfiction, digital writing, drama, fiction, graphic forms, libretti, or poetry. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume. Contact information for two referees.

All application materials must be in 12-point type with 1-inch margins.
