Fully Funded ASEF Public Diplomacy Training Program in Singapore Opens Applications for 2025
Applications are now being accepted for the 13th ASEF Public Diplomacy Training Program (ASEFPDT13), a hybrid program combining virtual learning with an intensive in-person training session in Singapore. This fully funded opportunity, offered by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) in collaboration with Diplo Foundation and the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to enhance the public diplomacy skills of early to mid-career professionals working in Asia-Europe relations.
Hybrid Program Structure: Virtual Learning and Singapore Training
The program commences with a virtual learning phase from September 15th to October 20th, 2025, allowing participants to engage from their home countries. Successful completion of the online component qualifies participants for a fully funded, five-day in-person training program in Singapore, scheduled for December 1st to 5th, 2025. The in-person sessions will be led by experienced public diplomacy trainers and experts.
Online Course Details
The virtual learning component emphasizes a collaborative approach, featuring interactive discussions and lectures. Participants can complete most activities at their own pace, with the exception of a one-hour live class meeting per week. The curriculum focuses on shaping public opinion regarding Asia-Europe relations. Notably, this year's edition introduces participants to AI-assisted tools for drafting public diplomacy programs.
Singapore Training: Practical Application and Cultural Immersion
The in-person training in Singapore provides opportunities to analyze case studies and design strategic campaigns, building upon the knowledge gained during the online course. Participants will engage in practical interactions with professional trainers and participate in a cultural tour to learn about Singaporean culture and history. This global exchange program will allow participants to enrich their understanding about the host’s culture and history.
Program Benefits: Fully Funded Opportunity
The ASEFPDT13 program is offered without application or participation fees. The organizers will cover travel costs to Singapore and accommodation expenses for selected participants. This fully funded structure removes financial barriers and ensures accessibility for qualified individuals from diverse backgrounds.

"This program provides a valuable platform for professionals to develop the skills and knowledge needed to navigate complex international relations and promote positive engagement between Asia and Europe."
Historical and Current Context of Public Diplomacy
The concept of public diplomacy has evolved significantly over the past century. Initially focused on government-to-government communication, it now encompasses a broader range of activities aimed at engaging foreign publics.
