Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Engages UNHCR And World Bank

The Ministry responsible for Planning and Economic Development has initiated collaboration with the UNHCR, the World Bank, and other relevant governmental bodies to enhance cooperation in various sectors, focusing on the National Development Plan.

Through its social media channels, the Ministry communicated that this engagement marked a constructive and forward-thinking discourse among key stakeholders, with the objective of revitalizing the Development Partnership Committee (DEPAC) sessions.

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development outlined that this gathering brought together distinguished individuals such as Madam Kenyeh Barlay, who serves as the Chairperson and Minister of Planning and Economic Development; UNRC Dr. Babatunde Ahonsi; and Abdu Muwonge, the World Bank Country Manager. These individuals are co-chairing the Committee.

The purpose of the discussions was to assemble a diverse range of participants, including development partners, representatives from the private sector, various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as members of civil society. The primary goal of these collaborative interactions is to cultivate synergy among these different sectors, thus amplifying the nation’s advancement endeavours. Notably, during the deliberations, a significant consensus emerged, underscoring the cooperative nature of these exchanges.

Participants unanimously agreed that the inaugural DEPAC session, scheduled for early September, would place emphasis on a key agenda: the conceptualization and groundwork for the upcoming Medium Term National Development Plan (MTNDP 2024-2028). This new plan will draw inspiration from the 2023 Peoples Manifesto Big Five Game Changers, a pivotal governmental directive.

Furthermore, discussions indicated that anticipation would mount as the September DEPAC meeting approaches. The combined efforts of all involved parties are aimed at influencing the trajectory of the nation’s advancement, aligning it with the goals outlined in the Peoples Manifesto.

Concluding their announcement, they expressed unwavering dedication to the nation’s prosperity. The renewed DEPAC meetings are poised to pave the way for collaboration, innovation, and comprehensive growth in the years ahead.
