Guinea Bissau Releases Squad List Ahead of Clash With Leone Stars

The Jurtus from Guinea Bissau have unveiled a roster of 24 players in advance of their upcoming match against the Leone Stars from Sierra Leone on the 11th of September, 2023.

In Group A, both Guinea Bissau and Nigeria have successfully secured spots in the 2024 TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations Tournament, set to take place in Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has affirmed that John Keister, the current head coach of the Leone Stars, will lead the team during their final Group A AFCON qualifier against Guinea Bissau in September.

This announcement follows speculations about a new coach's appointment, as the Technical Team's contract remains valid until the conclusion of August 2023. Following the appointment, the Technical Team of the Sierra Leone national senior men’s team (Leone Stars) has extended invitations to 30 locally-based players, who will commence training on the 19th of August, 2023, in preparation for the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau in the ongoing 2023 TotalEnergies AFCON Qualifiers.

Presently, Sierra Leone holds the third position in Group A and is gearing up for their final match to conclude the AFCON qualifiers, even though they have already been eliminated from further contention.
