The Sierra Leone Electoral Commission (SLEC) has effectively transferred 11,000 on-loan Ballot Boxes to the government of Guinea on the present day, Wednesday, August 23, 2023. The representative group from SLEC was headed by Commissioner Albert Samba Kanu of the North-Western Region, with the presence of the Assistant Director of Operations.

Preceding the June elections, SLEC received 11,000 vacant ballot boxes from the administration of Guinea on Saturday, May 27th, situated at the Forecariah operational Base in Guinea. This location is situated just a short distance from the boundary separating Guinea and Sierra Leone. Prior to the events, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, the Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chair, had led a team of electoral commissioners and ECSL staff on a visit to The Republic of Guinea. This visit aimed to facilitate the utilization of Guinean Ballot boxes during the elections held on June 24, 2023, within Sierra Leone's borders.
