In a groundbreaking effort to revolutionize healthcare in Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) has embarked on a collaborative partnership with the esteemed World Health Organization (WHO).
Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), this joint endeavor seeks to bring about significant and positive changes to the nation's health sector.
The collaboration was officially formalized during a well-organized quarterly meeting, where representatives from both institutions gathered to discuss and strategize transformative healthcare efforts. The primary objective of this partnership is to elevate the development of Sierra Leone's health sector and enhance the overall well-being of its citizens.
Several crucial areas of focus have been identified for immediate action. Both the MOHS and WHO have unanimously agreed to prioritize the completion of the Essential Health Services Package (EHSP), the formulation of staffing norms, and the advancement of a comprehensive national hospital strategy. Furthermore, a National Surgical, Obstetric, and Anesthesia Plan (NSOAP) is currently in progress, aimed at ensuring improved surgical and anesthesia services throughout the country.
With the recent reappointment of Minister Austin Demby, there is a renewed sense of optimism surrounding the success of this transformative health campaign. Minister Demby is firmly committed to ensuring the efficient implementation of these healthcare initiatives nationwide, with progress being meticulously monitored and reported at each quarter.
