Sierra Leonean Questions Appointment of Umaru Napoleon Koroma as Deputy Minister of Mines

Sierra Leone's President, Bio, recently made the public aware of his selection of new cabinet ministers for his second term in office. However, the appointment of Napoleon Koroma Esq as the Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources has triggered controversy, as Francis Emmanuel Abdulai Jr, a Sierra Leonean citizen, has raised concerns about the suitability of this appointment.

Expressing his viewpoint on Facebook, Abdulai stated, "Truly, our president has erred in appointing Esq Napoleon Koroma to a position where many believe he lacks the necessary qualifications. This decision has become a subject of discussion among those in opposition."

The primary issue highlighted by Abdulai revolves around the discrepancy between Koroma's legal background and the specific requirements of the mining sector. Abdulai questions the rationale behind assigning a legal professional to a role closely associated with the extractive industry. He wrote, "How can you place a legal expert in a mining-related field?"

Despite his reservations, Abdulai acknowledged President Bio's authority, stating, "Nevertheless, he is our leader, and his decisions are ultimately binding."

In his Facebook post, Abdulai also extended congratulations to the newly appointed ministers and expressed hope that they would govern the nation in the best interests of the country. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to President Bio, placing faith in his administration's pursuit of the "big five" agenda.
