Samura Kamara, Others to Appear in Court Tomorrow

Samura Kamara, leader of the main opposition All People's Congress (APC) party and presidential candidate in the June elections, is set to appear in court again tomorrow, Friday, July 14, 2023, at the High Court of Sierra Leone. Kamara is on trial for corruption charges, accused of misappropriating public funds.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleges that Kamara misled the principal and misappropriated public funds meant for the renovation of Sierra Leone's Chancery Building in New York when he was Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs in the previous APC administration. Kamara is also accused of misleading the principal.

Kamara has denied the allegations, claiming that the case is politically motivated and an attempt to smear his good name.

The trial is expected to continue for several weeks, and the outcome could have a significant impact on the political landscape in Sierra Leone.
