President Tinubu Congratulates President Bio on Re-election in Sierra Leone

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria expressed his congratulations to President Julius Maada Bio on his successful re-election in the polls held on 24 June.

In a letter addressed to President Bio, Tinubu conveyed his felicitations, acknowledging that Bio's re-election serves as a testament to his exceptional leadership and the trust bestowed upon him by the people of Sierra Leone. Tinubu attributed Bio's victory to his unwavering commitment to the well-being of his fellow citizens and the advancement of Sierra Leone's interests both within the ECOWAS sub-region and on the global stage.

Tinubu further highlighted the significant contributions made by Bio in uplifting the lives of Sierra Leoneans and promoting the nation's reputation internationally. He commended Bio's dedication and efforts in ensuring the welfare of his compatriots and representing the country's interests within the ECOWAS sub-region and the international community at large.

Following the announcement by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) that Bio secured a little over 56 percent of the valid votes, thereby emerging as the winner of the Presidential election, the main opposition party, All People's Congress (APC), contested the result. Nevertheless, Bio took the oath of office shortly after the announcement.
