President Ramaphosa eagerly looks forward to future engagements with President Bio, emphasizing the crucial significance of bilateral cooperation and collaboration on regional, continental, and global issues, aligning with Africa's Agenda 2063.
Taking note of the official certification by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone, President Ramaphosa wholeheartedly recognizes President Bio as the legitimate victor of the Presidential elections held on June 24, 2023.
"On behalf of the government and people of South Africa, President Ramaphosa commends the people of Sierra Leone for conducting peaceful and highly successful elections," stated the Presidency.
President Ramaphosa reassures President Bio of his unwavering commitment to further enhancing and strengthening the bilateral cooperation between South Africa and Sierra Leone, encompassing expanded trade and investment opportunities, as well as fostering meaningful people-to-people relations.
The President perceives the Sierra Leone elections as a significant milestone in consolidating democracy within the country and the continent, aligning with the goals of Agenda 2063. These goals include fortifying democratic achievements, enhancing the quality of governance, promoting respect for human rights, and upholding the rule of law," as stated in the official statement.
