Access Bank has emerged as the successor to Standard Chartered Bank in Sierra Leone, Angola, Cameroon, and The Gambia, as part of a recent acquisition deal. Access Bank Nigeria successfully acquired the Sub-Saharan subsidiaries of Standard Chartered Global, leading to this transition.
On June 1, 2023, the Sierra Leone subsidiary of Standard Chartered published its financial statements for the year 2022. The report revealed a significant increase in profit, with a total of NLe 53,038,164 recorded for the year. This amount represents almost double the profit earned in 2021, which stood at NLe 24,389,361.
Standard Chartered Bank, renowned as one of the world's foremost international banks, boasts a vast network of more than 1,000 branches spanning 59 countries worldwide. However, in recent years, the bank made notable strategic adjustments by discontinuing its provision of services to individual accounts in Sierra Leone and other African nations.
