In a gesture of tribute, the Njala University Administration has officially renamed the Njala Campus Faculty Building to honor the memory of Professor John Abu Kamara, a highly esteemed former Principal of Njala University College (NUC). On May 31, 2023, a ceremony was held to commemorate Professor Kamara's exceptional dedication and invaluable contributions to the success of Njala University.
During the event, Professor Alieu Mohamed Bah, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Njala Campus, expressed his profound admiration for Professor Kamara's tireless efforts and underscored the positive influence he had on both Njala University College and the Njala Campus. Professor Mohamed Syed Fofanah, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Bo Campus and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Njala University, emphasized that the purpose of the ceremony was to honor Professor Kamara's significant contributions to the university.
Speaking at the event, Professor Bashiru Mohamed Koroma, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, recounted Professor Kamara's remarkable accomplishments as a scholar and administrator. He particularly highlighted Professor Kamara's instrumental role in establishing the Animal Science Department as a leading centre for egg production in Sierra Leone. Professor Koroma reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing Professor Kamara's initiatives during his tenure.
The renaming of the Faculty Building was accompanied by a citation that recognized Professor Kamara's pivotal role in the development of Njala University and his enduring impact on the campus.
