African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 to Feature Foday Mansaray, Director General of Sierra Leone's Petroleum Directorate
Cape Town, June 8, 2023 - The African Energy Chamber (AEC), the leading advocate for the African energy industry, is pleased to announce the participation of Foday Mansaray, Director General of the Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone (PDSL), at the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 conference. AEW, Africa's largest gathering for energy stakeholders, will take place from October 16-20 in Cape Town, South Africa.
As the Director General of PDSL, Mansaray possesses extensive knowledge and practical experience across various aspects of the oil and gas sector. His expertise spans exploration activities, onshore and offshore processing chains, and other energy industry projects. With a strong background in project management and leadership, Mansaray has collaborated with major oil and gas companies including bp, Chevron, Aramco, Shell, TotalEnergies, and Technip Energies, cultivating robust relationships within the industry.
Under Mansaray's exceptional leadership, the PDSL has reached new heights. In 2022, Sierra Leone initiated its fifth licensing round to drive the development of its oil and gas industry. This round offers investors an opportunity to engage in over 63,000 square kilometers of highly promising acreage through block and technical data acquisition. With a focus on pursuing new investment opportunities, Mansaray aims to attract potential investors and establish new oil and gas projects in the region during AEW 2023.
In addition to forging partnerships with foreign players, the PDSL signed a cooperation agreement with the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) of Angola last year. This agreement, facilitated by Mansaray, emphasizes bilateral trade and investment opportunities, fostering stronger economic and social ties between the two nations. Sierra Leone is committed to strengthening its relationships with global and regional partners, expanding opportunities in its thriving oil and gas sector. Recent discoveries, such as those made by Innoson Oil & Gas in 2022, coupled with the ongoing licensing round, have boosted the country's optimism in attracting investment and creating a competitive energy market.
As Sierra Leone strives to leverage its hydrocarbon resources and emerge as a key player in Africa's oil and gas sector, Mansaray continues to champion investment in Sierra Leone's energy industry. At AEW 2023, he is expected to provide detailed insights into the investment and partnership opportunities available throughout the country.
"Mansaray exemplifies proactive leadership and possesses the drive to effect change. Leaders like him, with a clear and compelling vision for their country's energy sector and the capability to bring it to fruition, are invaluable in the energy sector," stated NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC. Ayuk further expressed the Chamber's high expectations for Mansaray to strengthen intra-African relationships and facilitate important insights and potential deals at AEW 2023.
During his address at the conference, Mansaray will cover crucial topics including the untapped potential of Sierra Leone's oil and gas resources, knowledge sharing with established producers like Angola, and the significance of regional cooperation in the African energy sector.
