Ensuring Security for Sierra Leone's Upcoming Elections: Firm Stance by Director General of National Security


Sierra Leone is gearing up for its upcoming elections on June 24th, 2023, and Francis Langumba Keili, the Director General of the Office of National Security (ONS), has taken the opportunity to address the issue of security within the country.

As the election campaign gains momentum across various regions, there have been reports of alleged violence, raising concerns among the populace. In response, Francis has adopted a resolute stance, firmly declaring that the ONS will establish a robust presence to discourage any wrongdoing throughout the nation.

He emphasized that individuals who dare to disrupt the electoral process will face severe consequences, including the possibility of imprisonment in either Pademba Road or Mafanta prisons. Moreover, he stressed that the significance of maintaining security during this election cannot be compromised or subjected to negotiation.

"Commencing today, we will exhibit a display of strength. Those who harbour intentions to disrupt the process will bear the full weight of their actions and endure the repercussions, which may involve confinement in either Pademba Road or Mafanta Prison. The preservation of security throughout this election is absolutely non-negotiable."
