Malicious Damaged Imprisonment


After pleading guilty to a one-count charge of malicious damage, Claudius Roberts, a 22-year-old, was sentenced to six months in the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown. The charge was in violation of Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

The court registrar read out an indictment stating that Roberts had maliciously damaged four billboards, each valued at one thousand, five hundred new Leones, on Main Motor Road in Brookfield's, Freetown on April 2, 2023. The billboards belonged to the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), and the total value of the damage was six thousand New Leones.

On April 4, 2023, Dauda Kamara arrested Roberts at Sanders Drive, Fayia Corner, Brookfield’s, Freetown, and reported him to the police. Upon hearing the case, Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Court No.1 wasted no time in sentencing Roberts to six months imprisonment.
