Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio Vows to Implement Recommendations of Protest Report

President Julius Maada Bio has committed to implementing the recommendations of the August 8-10 Protest Report, which was submitted to State House. In response to the report, the President emphasized his government's commitment to upholding universal principles of human rights and adhering to national and international human rights standards.

The report found that the protest aimed to illegitimately remove Bio as Head of State and disrupted the peace. It also condemned the killing of police officers during the protest and promised to apply the law to those responsible for the killing of the Operational Support Division (OSD) Regional Coordinator.

The August 10 protest was the most deadly since the end of Sierra Leone's 10-year civil war in 2002, with over 30 civilians and security personnel killed.
