According to reports, a formal approach has been made by Manchester United for a striker, and the player's manager has admitted that he would be powerless to prevent a transfer from happening if a "huge" bid is tabled.
The club's top priority this summer is to sign an elite calibre centre-forward. Although Marcus Rashford has been exceptional since the World Cup, he is expected to move to a left-wing role once the new face arrives.
The current striking options for manager Ten Hag are Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst. However, Martial is believed to be up for sale, and Weghorst has not done enough to earn a permanent move.
Ten Hag could return to Besiktas, where he spent the first half of the season on loan, if Weghorst moves. On the other hand, United have shortlisted Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen to lead the line next season.
While Osimhen appears to prefer a move to England over Paris, where he has been linked to PSG, Kane could receive a £300,000-a-week salary if he joins United, according to the Sun. However, both Tottenham and Napoli are not willing to sell their star strikers.
In case neither Kane nor Osimhen come to Old Trafford, United have several backup options, including Rasmus Hojlund, Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos, and Mohammed Kudus.
Manchester United recently submitted an official letter of interest for Hojlund, according to reports. However, Atalanta, where the Danish striker is currently playing, is reluctant to sell a player who has been dubbed the 'new Erling Haaland' by the media.
Hojlund has been developing rapidly, and it would be impossible for Atalanta to hold out if "huge" bids for the player are tabled this summer, according to Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini. Any club hoping to sign Hojlund now knows they can succeed, but it will depend on whether they are willing to pay the right price.
