
A prominent Commonwealth group visited Sierra Leone's judiciary, where they spoke about election-related problems for the June 2023 elections.
They were welcomed into the Hon. Chief Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards' chambers where they had insightful conversations concerning the judiciary's role in the impending general elections.
For the rolled-out debate on the judiciary's preparation and role in promoting peaceful coexistence at various stages of the electoral process, the team is chaired by Prof. Luis Franceschi, Assistant Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
In his opening remarks at a two-day symposium in Freetown, the Chief Justice had discussed the need to promote a shared understanding of Sierra Leone's Cyber security and Crime Act, 2021. According to them, the court has implemented these and several other initiatives to promote peaceful cohesion among residents in advance of the elections in June 2023.
