Alfred Peter Conteh, chairman of the APC's interim transitional governance committee, made the announcement at the party's headquarters in Freetown.
At a public event attended by APC supporters and ITGC Secretary Abdul Kargbo at the APC Party Headquarters, Chairman Conteh made an announcement.
"APC, we are all one," he declared. We all know that we each spoke our own. One thing we do know is that individuals in positions of authority fear our deaths more than their own. They are aware that they are done as we assemble. We have gathered as a group with a same message. The message we have for those who want to divide us and for those who are at the root of the issue. The lord has vanquished them, and we wish to tell them this. We think that if the APC seeks to take over, we fight among ourselves, but that when we join, we win.
Chairman Conteh was recently found guilty of disobeying a high court ruling, and he was sentenced to a $50,000 fine or 30 days in jail.
According to Justice Adrian Fisher's ruling, individuals who are unable to cooperate with the interim body must quit. The ITGC, led by Alfred Conteh, continues to have complete power over the APC party.
According to Justice Fisher, the ITGC chairman lacks the authority to name executive members to serve in the regions since they are not National Advisory Councils (NACs), and his choice to name temporary chairs is unlawful.
A committee of five to be formed within the IGTC by a simple majority to handle membership issues and reinstate members during the party's national convention was also ordered to be formed, the judge said, but nowhere in his earlier judgment did he say that the chairman had to accept donations on behalf of the party.
